OKLAHOMA CITY (6-9-16) — Valhalla graduate CARLEE WALLACE helped the Auburn University softball team make history in 2016 but the Tigers won’t have the hardware to show for it.

Wallace, a starting catcher for the Tigers, watched Oklahoma capture the Women’s College World Series National Championship on Wednesday (June 8) in a 2-1 victory over the Tigers.

The best season in Auburn’s program history comes to an end with a 58-12 mark. The Tigers were picked to finish sixth in the Southeastern Conference and finished first.

Wallace batted .287 (49-for-87) with 5 home runs and 42 RBI in this, her sophomore season.

As a freshman Wallace batted .281 with 8 home runs and 29 RBI. She was also named to the Women’s College World Series All-Tournament Team.

Hitting the longball has always been a strength for Wallace, who clubbed 13 home runs to hold the Grossmont Conference record.

Another East County alum, Delanie Gourley, out of El Capitan, was named to the All-Southeastern Conference First Team as a pitcher for the University of Florida.
