SAN DIEGO (4-20-16) — The 15th ranked Grossmont College baseball team had pitcher DONOVAN McCRYSTAL named as one of two student-athletes for the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference male athlete of the week on Tuesday (April 19). McCrystal shared the honor with Bryan Dezern of Mt. San Jacinto.
The freshman from West Hills improved his season record to 7-0 after defeating Imperial Valley on Thursday, April 15th. In that outing the right-hander allowed four hits while striking out nine in the shutout. It was his fourth consecutive start in which he lasted at least six innings.
The Griffins have this week off and will return to the field on Tuesday, April 26 when third-place Mt. San Jacinto (17-14, 13-6 PCAC) travel to El Cajon. The Griffins have a magic number of three over Palomar and just two on MSJC.
The Griffins entered the week ranked 15th in the Southern California rankings.
