SAN DIEGO (4-17-16) – The Serra Conquistadors hosted the Oceanside Pirates in a makeup game and both teams went back and forth but in the end the Conquistadors pulled it out, 5-4, Saturday (Apr.16).
The Conquistadors would break through first in the bottom of the third inning as KRISTA RASK (2-2, 2 R, 3B) led off with a single and she would later come in to score on the double by AMBER WOZNIAK (2-4, RBI, 2B) to give Serra a 1-0 lead early on. However the Pirates would threaten in the top of the fourth inning as they were able to get multiple hits but VIVIAN TOMOVICH would get out of it as she got the fly ball for the final out of the inning.
However in the top of the sixth inning the Pirates finally got to Tomovich as they were able to push across three runs to take a 3-1 lead. Serra now trailing got it going in the bottom of the sixth inning as SELA FALLON led off with a ripped triple to center, JORDAN GRAVES would reach on a sacrifice bunt that would score Fallon to make it 3-2, BRIANNA CORONADO (1-2, R) would single, JACQUELINE KAMERY (1-2, R) singled and DARBY TIBBETTS (2-4, 3 RBI, 2B) would smoke a double that scored Graves, Coronado and Kamery to give the Conquistadors a 5-3 lead. Oceanside would tack on another run in the top of the seventh to pull within 5-4 but that would be all they would get as Tomovich would get the final two outs via strikeout and a fly ball to end the game and preserve the victory.
Tomovich for the Conquistadors would toss a complete game going 7 innings, giving up 4 runs of which 3 were earned on 11 hits while walking 0 and striking out 3

Calexico 2, Serra 0 – In the second game of the day it just wasn’t the host Serra Conquistadors day as they dropped the 2-0 decision to the visiting Calexico Bulldogs, Saturday (Apr 16).
The Conquistadors coming off of the hard fought one run victory in the first game of the day just couldn’t get it going offensively as Calexico scored twice in the top of the second to lead 2-0. Serra would have their chances, especially in the bottom of the fifth when SELA FALLON (1-3, 3B) led off with a smashed triple but she would be stranded. Serra again would have another shot in the bottom of the sixth inning when VIVIAN TOMOVICH (1-3) and AMBER WOZNIAK (1-3) would hit back to back singles, however they tried to pull off a double steal and Tomovich would be thrown out at third base for the second out.
These would be the best opportunities for the Conquistadors as in the bottom of the seventh inning they would be retired 1-2-3 to end the game.
Serra pitcher DARBY TIBBETTS would take the hard luck loss as she went the full 7 innings, giving up 2 runs of which none were earned on 8 hits and walked 1.
