COSTA MESA – Courtesy of the (bad) luck of the state computer rankings, Grossmont and Cypress colleges were placed in the same Southern California regional bracket with Golden West, the top-seed and 7-time defending state champions.
While the Rustlers went on to with an 8th consecutive croiwn, the team they would first face after an opening-round bye would be Cypress.
The Chargers held off the Griffins, 13-12, in a match held at Orange Coast College. ending the season for the 3-time Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championw =th a 22-10 record.
The teams were tied at 8-all through three periods, then a wild, final 8 minute stanza saw 9 total goals scored, However, Cypress broke a 12-all deadlock with a goal with 46 seconds remaining to post the victory.
For the G-House, Jake Simpson led with five
R goals, while Zachariah Barclay added four.
Grossmont was the No. 9 seed at the regional, while Cypress was No. 8, but it didn’t matter because the match was held at a neutral tank (pool).
