Six Griffs walk off court winners in final home game

EL CAJON (2-20-16) — The Grossmont College women’s basketball team defeated San Diego City College on Friday (Feb. 19) by a score of 70-66 at Grossmont College in their final regular season game.
Three Griffins (9-18, 6-8 PCAC) reached double figures in the contest. DOMINIQUE MORRISON (Santana), RANAE HANNIBAL (Heritage Christian) and JAZMINE BRADLEY (Monte Vista) all reached the mark.
The game saw six Griffin players play in their final game in the Green and Gold. JOANNA DE LA CRUZ (El CajonValley), Bradley, CHRISTINA BARRAMEDA (Ramona), Morrison, VALERIA GARAY (El Capitan) and MARIEL AVILA (Calexico) will depart the campus in June as graduates.
Grossmont outscored City (8-17, 5-9 PCAC) by 16 in the first quarter. City would return the favor as they put 23 points up in the second quarter compared to GC’s 12. This made the score 38-33 in Grossmont’s favor at the break.
City took the lead at the end of the third quarter 50-49. In the fourth quarter, Grossmont made sure that they would win the game by putting 21 up in the final period.
The Griffins would need several breaks to go their way. The playoff seedings will come out on Sunday (Feb. 21).
