DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — El Cajon native Jimmie Johnson and crew chief Chad Knaus will enter the NASCAR Hall of Fame together.
Johnson, a seven-time Cup Series champion, will also be joined by Donnie Allison, a championship driver from the 1970-80s.
Johnson and Knaus were paired together in 2002 on a fourth Hendrick team and are considered one of the most dominant teams in NASCAR history — winning 81 races over 19 seasons.
“What makes this moment even more special is being inducted with cHAD,” Johnson wrote on social media. “We re-wrote the record books together, so it’s only fitting we are inducted together.”
“Congratulations also to Donnie Allison for joining the Hall of Fame and Janet Guthrie on the Landmark Award.”
“Joining the elite company of so many who have contributed to our sport is truly overwhelming and I am forever grateful.
