2016 EAST COUNTY PREP FOOTBALL

EL CAJON (2-8-16) — The USA U18 Football National Select team beat the Ontario Under-18 Team 34-3 in a game played on Friday (Feb. 5) in AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
Valhalla junior ANTHONY PORTILLO was named starter at strong safety for the USA team.
The contest was broadcast on ESPN3.
Kenny Pickett (Oakhurst, N.J.) earned game MVP honors, as he threw for 299 yards and three touchdowns.
The victory gave the United States a 3-2 lead in the International Bowl series going into Friday night’s finale.
The International Bowl is football’s largest annual international competition. As the national governing bodies of the sport, USA Football and Football Canada assemble and manage the official national teams for the countries.
Pickett threw a pair of touchdown passes in leading his team to a 14-3 halftime lead.
