LA MESA (2-1-16) — The University of Las Vegas football coaches must like what they see when they visit the Helix High campus.
In the past the Rebels have awarded scholarships to the KEYS brother – junior-to-be wide receiver KENDAL, who caught 43 passes last season, including six touchdowns, and senior defensive back KENNY.
Come this fall it will be MEKHI STEVENSON’s chance to dazzle the Rebels.
The 6-foot-1, 177-pound wide receiver caught 36 passes for 779 yards – an average of 21.6 – for 10 touchdowns in his final season at Helix.
Stevenson has committed to playing for the Rebels, choosing UNLV over offers from Utah State and Colorado State.
In his senior season as a Highlander, Stevenson was an All East County first team pick, a Grossmont Hills League first team choice and a second team All-Breitbard CIF Hall of Champions choice.
