EL CAJON (1-30-16) — In a battle of front-runners Steele Canyon could not find a way to solve the hot-handed shooting of Grossmont’s junior sharp-shooter TAISHA SILAS in Friday night’s (Jan. 29) Grossmont Valley League contest won by the Foothillers 43-31.
Everywhere the Cougars turned Silas put the ball in the air as she finished with 25 points.
Grossmont traded baskets with the Cougars in the first half, before Silas erupted for 13 points in the third quarter. She nailed 4 treys to give the Foothillers command.
“I was nervous all day,” Silas said. “I knew we had to win and that’s all I could think about.
“I didn’t think I would have that great a shooting night, but I’ll take it,” said Silas who finished with 25 points.
