EL CAJON (1-27-16) — The Valhalla Norsemen used the power of four players in double scoring digits to topple West Hills 61-59 in Tuesday’s (Jan. 26) Grossmont Hills League contest.
By winning, the Norsemen moved into second place behind idle Grossmont with a 2-1 league record. They are 14-7 overall.
“We were losing by 13 points late in the third quarter,” recalled Norsemen assistant coach DON ROLLINS. “Then defensively we stepped up in the fourth quarter – held them to 4 points. We played good, aggressive defense in that quarter.”
JORDAN ELLIS set the scoring tone for the Norsemen with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
Hard-nosed senior COLE HENDERSON was the cornerstone of the Valhalla defense, contributing 14 points, 12 rebounds, 5 blocks, 3 assists and 2 steals in the come-from-behind victory.
Henderson was also 3-for-7 from long distance and 3-for-4 from the free throw line.
