SPRING VALLEY – Sophomore Kristina Deal drove in four runs as the West Hills Wolf Pack defeated the Monte Vista Monarchs on the road in Grossmont Valley League play 20-1 on Wednesday (May 10) in five innings.
Deal would do her damage in the first, second, and fourth innings. Her day included a pair of doubles that would drive in runs; she herself scored a pair of runs as well.
West Hills would put up six runs in the fourth inning, which included doubles by both Deal and Maddie Aylesbury. Also getting in on the action was Amaya Angeli, who drove in a run as did Chiara Burgin.
Getting the starting nod was Ava Goodman, who allowed no runs on no hits over three innings of work, while fanning seven to pick up the victory. Aylesbury would come in and toss two innings of relief in which she allowed two hits and a run, while striking out four.
Deal, Faith Balistreri, Angeli, and Aylesbury all had multiple hits for the Pack. Deal in her big day would go 3-for-5.
Both Sophia Valdez, who scored the lone run, and Yahilynn Ruiz, who drove in the lone run, had both hits for the Monarchs.
Monte Vista with the loss falls to 5-11 overall and 2-7 in league play, and will finish up against city rival Mount Miguel on Friday (May 12).
West Hills improved to 16-7-1 overall and 8-1 in league play and will wrap up the regular season on Friday at home against El Cajon Valley.

EL CAJON – Three Valhalla Norsemen pitchers combined on a no-hit shutout to beat the El Cajon Valley Braves in a shortened Grossmont Valley League contest on Wednesday (May 10).
The Norsemen would strike first, pushing across ten runs in the top of the first inning, as they scattered seven hits and took advantage of four walks by Braves pitching.
Valhalla’s Preslee Fink would hit a ball to right field that rolled around allowing both Brooke Tucci and Liliana Moscoso to come in to score, with Fink coming all the way around for the inside-the-park three-run home run in the fourth inning.
Cadyn Ruffer, who went 2-for-2 at the plate, scoring a pair and driving in two runs, would also swipe four bags. Devyn Mack, who started the game in the circle, helped her own cause with three hits, including scoring three runs.
On the day the Norsemen tallied seventeen hits which included Fink, Mack, Ruffer, Naomi Villalva, Moscoso, and Avery Voth all having multiple hits in the game.
Valhalla with the win extends their winning streak to four games and improves to 16-10-1 overall and 8-1 in league play. They will finish the regular season on Friday at home against the Grossmont Foothillers.
If both Valhalla and West Hills win on Friday, or if they both lose, they would finish as Co-Champions of the Valley League. On the other hand, if one wins and the other loses, the winner would finish as league champions by themselves.
