Griffins dominate All-PCAC volleyball

FLETCHER HILLS — Following another undefeated campaign to capture yet another Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championship, the Grossmont College women;s volleyball team swept all of the major awards for the 2022 season.

The Griffins, the highest-placing Southern California program at the CCCAA State Championships, saw Madi Bogle named the PCAC’s Most Valuable Player.

Meanwhile, Brooke Callahan was tabbed the conference’s Coach of the Year after posting a perfect 16-0 mark in conference play. As a player, she led Grossmont to the 2016 CCCAA beach volleyball state championship

Bogle, who hails from Eastlake High, totaled 187 kills, 159 digs and 12 blocks in conference play alone.

Also gaining recognition from Grossmont was first team selections Kelsey Carter, a sophomore middle hitter out of San Pasqual; outside hitter Brooke Miller (Las Vegas-Pine View Panthers); and sophomore setter Chelsee Trendler from Patrick Henry).

Miller, an a two-way performer at the net and the back row, registered 118 kills and 123 digs during the conference slate.

Chelsee TrendleA trio of Griffins freshmen topped the list of PCAC second team honorees. Featured were libero Lauren Dumo (Westview), second middle Alyson ‘Aly’ Guise (Grossmont HS), and opposite Amanda Pena (Helix).

Grossmont completed the season with a 23-4 overall record, falling to eventual state champion Feather River at he CCCAA Championships at Fresno City College. The Griffins were ranked No. 1 in the Southland by the state coaches’ poll.
