From staff and wire reports
OMAHA, Neb. – Steele Canyon High golfer Annika Yturralde, a two-time member of the all-CIF San Diego Section team, has arrived to Creighton University to begin her collegiate career. Yturralde officially signed her National Letter of Intent last November.
Yturralde placed in the top five of seven junior tournaments, including a first-place finish at the FCG County Classic. She has also placed in the top 10 of five California high school tournaments.
“Annika is a really great player and should make an immediate impact,” said Creighton head coach Debbie Conry.
Yturralde is also a seven-time Callaway/IMG Junior World qualifier participant, a member of the 2021 San Diego Junior Girls Americas Cup team and won the El Sombrero Open in Tijuana in both 2019 and 2020.
While playing in many competitive SoCal tournaments, she has merited a highest Junior Golf Scoreboard ranking in 2021 of No. 36 for the class of 2022 and No. 99 overall.
“I’m really excited that she and her family will be part of the Creighton family,” Conry said.
Her ultimate goal is to capture the U.S. Women’s Open. She owns four career aces. She plans to major in Studio Art.
Davis Update
Anna Davis, a sophomore at Steele Canyon High, has moved up into 18th place in the world Girls Junior Golf rankings. It’s her highest ranking ever.
Earlier this year, Davis captured the 2022 Augusta National Women’s Amateur, one of three wins in 11 major events over the past two years. The Augusta win capped a streak of six straight tournament placing in the top four.
