EL CAJON (4-12-22) – A five-run fourth inning lifted the home team Christian Patriots victory as they double up the Morse Tigers 6-3 in City League action on Tuesday afternoon.
An RBI single by Kaitlyn Moody (1-2, R, RBI) to score Ashley Wood (1-1, R, SB) would make it 2-0, later in the inning Kate Manes (2-2, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2 SB) added to the lead as she drove in both Hannah Mroz 1-3, R) and Moody to make it 4-0 and Chloe Hessom (RUN) would come into score on an error on the play by the Tigers to add another run and make it 5-0. Then with Manes on third base as she would advance due to the error Tyler Krystek (1-2, 2 RBI) came up and promptly drove her in to make it 6-0.
The Tigers would finally get on the board in the top of the sixth inning on an error by the Patriots allowing Shaunessy Cardwell to score which made it 6-1. Morse would go on to add another pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning to cut the deficit in half but that would be the closest they would get as Allyson Moody finished things out to end the game and procure victory.
Christian prior to the fourth inning would score on a fielders’ choice by Tyler Krystek which resulted in an error by the Tigers allowing Manes to come into score.
Manes for the Patriots got the starting nod and would pick up the win as she allowed no runs on five hits over four innings of work. Moody came into the game in the fifth inning and finished things out in relief in which she allowed three runs on three hits.
The Patriots with the win extend their winning streak to seven games and improve their record overall to 10-5, 1-0 in league play while Morse falls to 6-10, 0-1.
