The other side of the Grossmont Conference was quite the contrast to their Hills counterpart as both contests played on the Valley side were run-rule ,blowout victories.
West Hills 11, Monte Vista 1 (5 inn.)
SANTEE (3-31-22) – The West Hills Wolf Pack on Thursday afternoon banged out eleven hits and used two five-run innings to easily win against the visiting Monte Vista Monarchs.
Lily Youngdale (3-4, 2 R, RBI) would drive in the first run when she singled to center field bringing in Amaya Angeli (1-4, R, SB) who led off with a base hit and promptly stole second base, a couple of batters later Faith Balestreri (1-2, 2 R, RBI) would drive in Youngdale, later in the inning Ava Goodman (1-2, R, 2 RBI) would draw a walk that would plate Alyssa Thornton (RUN), Marina Morales (1-3, R, 4 RBI, 2B) followed with a ground out that scored Balestreri and Jaci McKindley (3-3, 2 RBI, 2B) followed with a base hit scoring Samiya Wright (2 R) to make it 5-0.
The Monarchs would score their lone run of the contest in the top of the fifth inning when Brianna Barnes-Willey grounded out but Madison Jones would race home.
Still leading 5-1 the Wolf Pack would add more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning as they scored all of them with two outs.
Naomi Kai would hit a solo home run over the left-field fence to make it 6-1, after three consecutive walks to load the bases Morales would clear them with one swing of the bat as she smashed a double to right field to make it 9-1, she would come into score after advancing to third on a passed ball when McKindley roped a double to center field.
Leading 10-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning the Wolf Pack only needed one more run before the game would be called due to the run rule. They would get the run when Goodman with two outs drove in Youngdale which ended things in favor of the Pack.
Goodman picked up the victory for the Pack as she went all five innings allowing two hits while striking out three on the day.
