MIRA MESA (3-8-22) – Eagles slugger Sofia Mujica (3-3, 2R, 2 RBI, 2 HR) who over the last couple of ballgames has hit for an incredible .800 average continued her hot streak as she belted two home runs in the 5-2 victory over the Mira Mesa Marauders on Tuesday afternoon.
Right off the bat, Mujica jacked a lead-off home-run for her fourth of the season to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead, later in the inning Kailey Sandoval scored on an error by the Marauders and Kaleigh Baugher (1-2, 2B, 2 RBI) would drive in a pair of runs with a double to left field to make it 4-0 in the top of the first inning.
Mira Mesa would push across a run in the bottom of the third inning to make it 4-1.
Later in the top of the sixth inning with two outs, Mujica would hit another solo homer over the right-field fence for her fifth of the season to give the Eagles a 5-1 lead.
Both Sandoval and Audrey Smale would each have a pair of hits for the Eagles along with runs scored.
Baugher would get the starting nod and garnered the win. She allowed nine hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out two and walking one.
With the victory the Granite Hills Eagles even their record at 4-4-1 and will next take on the Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots on Thursday afternoon in El Cajon for a 4 P.M. scheduled start time.
