SANTEE (12-4-2021) – Although the Granite Hills Eagles have been flying high above the clouds, the defense has been the key to victory, however, the offense has been hit and miss.
The downtown shots, i.e., three-pointers, will come slowly but surely.
However, not fast enough when it came to facing the Patrick Henry Patriots from San Carlos.
Granite Hills matched up against the Patriots as a result of their performance in the Armstrong Horsman Tournament, one of the biggest tournaments in Santee, so naturally, both teams squared off in the West Hills gymnasium.
“Patrick Henry shot the ball very well. We were down big early, we just didn’t match their intensity at the start. We were down 10 with three minutes to go and missed an open layup, that was our best chance to get back into the game,” said Eagles head coach Dan Duffy.
As far as the offense, the Eagles’ typical double trouble, terror twins Tre Edmond and Derek Edmond put up a combined 24 points.
Tre led the way with 16 points, 4-of-4 free throws, two rebounds, and a steal.
Derek Edmond had eight total points, 2-of-3 free throws, five rebounds, one assist, four steals, and one block.
Zangana Lawond had seven total points, 1-of-2 free throws seven rebounds, one steal, and two blocks.
This would be the first and biggest loss early on for Granite Hills.
Granite Hills (3-1) will be hosting the Point Loma Pointers (0-1) at 7 p.m. This one should put the Eagles back in the win column.
