SPRING VALLEY – The Monte Vista Monarchs and Mount Miguel Matadors renewed the Battle of Spring Valley boys basketball style on Wednesday night with the Monarchs coming out on top, 66-48.
The Monarchs’ Brandon Tully scored 15 points, while teammate Ivan Maynard added 13 points.
Tully knocked down four three-pointers in the contest, including three in the first half.
Tully, Maynard, and Cameron McKan combined for four three-pointers in the second quarter.
Lavonte Jenkins also had 12 points for Monte Vista. He also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
Maynard finished with eight rebounds and three steals.
Senior Isaiah Gardner had eight points and five rebounds for the Monarchs.
Tully had three steals and two assists, as well.
Monte Vista improved to 15-10 on the season.
The Monarchs will play at Santana on Friday.
