A trio of East County teams won their games on Saturday…
EL CAJON VALLEY 33, MAR VISTA 31 – El Cajon Valley rallied from a five-point deficit entering the fourth quarter to win at home in a Matador Classic game.
It was the first win of the season for the Braves in three contests. The game was the second under coach RANDY ROBINSON.
The Braves trailed 25-20 entering the fourth but got the first two buckets of the fourth to start the momentum.
With the score tied 31-all, El Cajon Valley scored the decisive basket in the final minute.
The Braves will host Ramona (4-4) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
STEELE CANYON 40, SAN DIEGO 38 – The Cougars edged the Cavers in a Matador Classic game after a stand-down in the first quarter that left the teams tied at 3-all.
San Diego led by a pair of halftime but the difference was Steele Canyon’s 13–7 scoring edge in the third quarter.
The Cougars will meet the Helix Highlanders (1-1) in a tournament game on Monday at 7.
EL CAPITAN 65, FALLBROOK 25 – Vaquero sophomore MACKENZIE CURTIS poured in 11 of her 25 points in the first quarter, then in the third quarter, hit a trio of three-pointers.
Curtis finished with four threes in the contest, as did JORDAN GRANDY, who tallied 14 points in all.
Freshman TIFFANY BICKFORD added 11 points, with nine of them coming in the first half.
El Cap had a 19-4 lead after the first quarter.
The Vaqueros will host Point Loma on Tuesday at 6:30.
