RANCHO SAN DIEGO (10-10-15) — It’s hard to overlook the explosive offensive assault of Helix senior tailback NATHAN STINSON, who burst for 123 yards and 5 touchdowns on a mere 10 carries en route to the Highlanders’ Grossmont Hills League 41-6 slaughter of host Steele Canyon.
The 5-foot-6, 185-pound Stinson bullied his way for short scoring bursts of 1 and 2 (3 times) yards, and then exhibited his long range ability as he zig-zaged through the Steele Canyon defense for an 80-yard TD run.
“I have to give it up to my offensive line,” Stinson said. “The inside zones were there – we capitalized on that. Looking back I think it was the most touchdowns I’ve ever scored in a game – at any level.”
Not to be overlooked was the double threat work of Highlanders quarterback MICHAEL AUSTIN, who had 9 carries for 70 yards and one (non-Stinson) touchdown. He completed 12 of 23 passes for 152 yards.

“Austin was really explosive tonight,” noted Stinson. “We were pretty strong and hyped up all the way.”
“Michael had a quick release and got rid of the ball fast enough to offset their blitz,” said SCOTTIE YOUNG, who reeled in 4 passes for 55 yards. “We took every play like it would be our last.”

ZEKE NOA anchored the Helix defense by registering a team best 10 tackles.
“I do my best on both sides of the ball,” said Noa, who plays middle linebacker and tight end.
Steele Canyon was limited to 96 yards total offense on 50 plays. Six rushes were for negative yardage and its longest rush went for just 10 yards.

“(Helix coach TROY STARR) knows what to do to adjust to almost any situation,” said Cougars coach SCOTT LONGERBONE. “I thought our defense did a pretty job, but when you can’t generate any offense it’s kinda difficult to find anything to say.”
