SPRING VALLEY – Nathan Hart and the Imperial Tigers rushed for 347 yards to control the decisive ground game in a 51-19 non-league victory over host Mount Miguel on Friday night.
The Matadors owned the air with 371 yards from sophomore quarterback J.D. LAVERDIERE, who also passed for three touchdowns.
Senior ERIC GRAHAM caught two of the scoring strikes – one in the second and one in the third quarter – while senior JADD MALLARD caught a deep 30-yard pass behind the defense after the Tigers’ Hart had the game’s initial score in the first period.
Mallard led the Matadors with 115 yards receiving while Graham had 99 yards and JAHEIM ALLEN-POMPEY had 89 yards. Junior DOMINIC MORALES also caught three passes.
Hart rushed for 185 yards on 26 carries and four touchdowns.
Imperial led 30-13 at halftime.
Mount Miguel meets Santana in the Grossmont Valley League opener next Friday night in Santee.
