GROSSMONT 5, OLP 2

Both Kati Contreras and Kimmy Bond led the Foothillers offense as they pounded out 12 hits collectively as a team against the Pilots on Thursday.

With one out Bond (2-4, 2R, 2B) started the offense as she singled and scored on a double by Contreras (4-4, 2R, RBI, 2B) to make it 1-0, Contreras would score when Samaria Roope (RUN) reached on an error to make it 2-0, she would score on another Pilot miscue.

The Pilots would push across a run off Roope in the bottom of the first inning to cut the deficit 3-1. Despite back=to=back singles by Contreras and Brown (2-4) in the top of the third inning, they couldn’t capitalize with the timely hit.

Both Roope and Pilots pitcher Kelsey Way matched each other and even when Way gave up back-to-back singles to Jamie Medlin (1-4) and Appenzeller (1-4) in the top of the fourth, she was able to get out of the jam to keep Grossmont off the board.

However, in the top of the fifth inning, the Foothillers broke through off of Way as Contreras led off with a single, Brown followed with a single. Aly Allman (1-4, RBI) roped a single that scored Contreras to extend the lead 4-1.

Another Grossmont run came in the top of the sixth inning when Bond stole home to push the lead 5-1.

OLP in the bottom of the seventh inning would garner another run off Roope as Jenny Massey scored when Way reached on an error to make it 5-2.

Roope in the victory tossed 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits while walking 3 and striking out 6.

VALHALLA 3, EC SOUTHWEST 2

Valhalla’s Delaney Stettler went the distance while only giving up a couple of runs while the offense took advantage of an early opportunity to supply the runs needed.

The visiting Eagles from the Valley traveled the 120+ mile trek to take on the Norsemen and thought they had done enough in the top of the first when they scored two runs to lead 2-0.

However in the bottom of the first inning with one out Samantha Green jacked a three-run blast over the center field fence to score Jade Hill (HBP) and Kennedy Labshere (single) to give Valhalla a 3-2 lead.

The Norsemen in the bottom of the third inning had another opportunity to score as Labshere led off with a single, with two outs Stettler singled which moved Labshere to third but both would be stranded.

On the day in the complete game victory, Stettler scattered 5 hits while giving up 2 runs while walking 2 and striking out 3.

DEL NORTE 11, CHRISTIAN 1 (JAGUAR CLASSIC)

The Nighthawks showed who the boss was against the home team Patriots as they racked up eleven runs in the top of the first inning.

On the day for the Nighthawks, Syd Zaia did the damage as she went 4-for-4 with a double and drove in 3 runs while scoring a run as well.

For Christian the only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a leadoff home run by Mallory Steele.

In the game also for the Patriots, Silent Rain Espinoza had a triple and Audrey Shebloksi had a single.
