Valhalla 14, Granite Hills 13 – Andrew Higginson, of Valhalla had 6 goals on just seven shots, while teammate Jacob Camacho and Brandon Persky both added 3 scores. Second-place Valhalla improved to 4-2, 15-6, while the Eagles are in third place at 3-3.
Valhalla’s early 4-1 lead became a nail-biter when Granite Hills outscored the Norsemen 5-2 in the third.
Senior Reed Minter had five assists for Valhalla, while Persky, Higginson and Camacho all had three steals.
Grossmont 11, Monte Vista 1 – Grossmont remained unbeaten in league at 7-0, improving to 13-8 overall. Goals: Jungman (G) 2, Hazlebeck (G) 2, Nevins (G) 2. Saves: Rosenkoetter (G) 10.
Grossmont Valley League
Helix 9, El Capitan 6 – Helix kept pace in the wild Valley race, improving to 5-2 in league, while the fourth-place Vaqueros fell to 3-3. The Highlanders outscored the Vaqueros 5-1 in the second to lead 6-3 at the half.
Steele Canyon 18, El Cajon Valley 1 – The Cougars remained atop the league table at 6-2 (10-4 overall).
