EL CAJON – Christian High freshman KRISTIN WILLIAMS looked like a dead-ringer for Patriots legend STEPHANIE SHADWELL on Saturday night.
While not necessarily the same in style of play – at least not yet in terms’ of the young star’s development – the physical appearance and more importantly, the on-court awareness of her teammates, could make any long-time Patriot fan think back to the Christian High star of the mid-1990s.
Williams scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half to lead the Patriots over Mission Vista, 63-39, to advance to the San Diego Section CIF Division III semifinals.

Christian High will host the El Capitan Vaqueros, two teams that have taken the same trajectory to this most interesting matchup. The Patriots will be aiming for their first section title game berth in 21 years.
Christian High sophomore forward SIMONE JAMES got things started with the first two buckets of the game en route to a game-high 19 points.
James also scored the last four points of the first quarter and Christian held a 15-11 lead at the end of the one.
The Patriots’ ZOE NORDLING kept things moving in the second quarter with a rebound basket, an assist to JASMYN CRAWFORD to put CHS ahead 25-16, then later, a three-pointer.
The Patriots’ RAELYN MUECA, a sophomore, had six of her eight points in the second quarter, while Nordling added seven points in the quarter, as the Patriots led 34-20 at halftime.
Williams made a pair of three-pointers in the third quarter, plus an and-one, and Christian knew they were head to the semis by the time it was 52-28.
El Capitan and Christian will meet Saturday night at Ryan Athletic Center with a title game appearance on the line at 7 p.m.
