LA MESA – The West Hills Wolf Pack came up clutch in the fourth quarter and improved to 2-0 in the Grossmont Hills League with a road victory at Grossmont Friday night.
Grossmont had a 36-35 lead late in the fourth quarter after leading by as many as 34-27 early on in the fourth.
The first quarter was closely-contested, as the Hillers led 12-10 at the end of one, as neither team led by more than a field goal early.
West Hills junior guard HALEY DOUCETTE hit a field goal in the waning moments of the first for the two-point lead.
The Wolf Pack would use good ball movement for a field goal with 4:26 to go in the second quarter to take a 19-17 lead.
The score was tied several times in the second quarter and the teams went to the locker room tied at 21-all.
Grossmont started well out of the gate, taking a 28-23 lead early in the third quarter.
Grossmont led 30-27 at the end of three.
West Hills took a 37-36 lead late in the fourth, then built the lead to 42- 36 very late.
West Hills improved to 7-10 overall. The Wolf Pack faces Granite Hills in a league game on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Grossmont will host No. 1-ranked Mount Miguel on Tuesday at 6.
