SAN DIEGO (12-20-2017) – After losing a heartbreaker to Sweetwater, 66-64 in overtime, the Crawford Colts were hoping to rebound against a tough Helix Scotties team which just came off their 3rd straight convincing win, 62-16, over Jurupa Hills.
Asking the Colts to pull this off was next to an impossible task.
The Highlanders finished off the Colts, 63-42.
Helix head coach BRENNAN CASSADY was not entirely impressed, but would definitely take the win.
“We can play much better, but we are still trying to put together the perfect rotation with our football guys back,” said Cassady.
The Highlanders were up 38-19 at the half and would continue their dominant performance after the half for the 4th contest in a row.
“Having to play three games in-a-row during finals week has been a test within itself on our players,” said Cassady.
Senior ISAIAH WOODEN put up 9 points in the 1st half and finished with 13 points, including a 3-pointer and 2-for-2 at the line.
Also, senior guard AMARI GREEN had 10 points and 4 rebounds, while also in on the action was senior CARSON BAKER, who put up 10 points as well, including a 3-pointer and 6 rebounds.
Crawford fell to 2-5.
Once the football/basketball players start to gel again, Helix seems to be the team to beat if they remain healthy, as they are an unstoppable force on offense and defense.
For Helix, the success has been someone or a few different players stepping up every game.
The Scotties will remain on the road as they travel to National City to play the Sweetwater Red Devils (3-2).
The Highlanders (5-2) clearly have the edge.
Tip-off is at 6:30 pm on Thur., December 21st.
WEST HILLS 65, FALLBROOK 36 – Senior CAM BARRY racked up another 30-plus-point performance Wednesday night with 36 as the scored as many points as opponent Fallbrook.
Barry was 12-of-22 from the field, nailing 5-of-10 three-pointers. He also had eight rebounds.
West Hills jumped out to a 21-7 lead after the first quarter. The Wolf Pack led 35-15 at halftime thanks to a strong defensive effort.
The Wolf Pack won their third-straight game and moved over. 500 for the first time this season a 5-4.
Sophomore CADE RALEY also had a couple of three-point bombs on the evening for the Pack.
Junior guard MICHAEL TOTAH had seven assists to lead West Hills, while senior CHRIS SCHROEDER had six rebounds.
On Tuesday, the Wolf Pack clobbered Coronado in similar fashion, leading 32-12 at halftime, behind Barry’s 37 points.
Barry had five threes on Tuesday night, as well.
Barry is averaging just shy of 35 points per game so far this season. He also averages more than nine rebounds per contest.
West Hills faces Victory Christian Academy (2-4) on Friday at 7:30 in a non-league home game.
