NATIONAL CITY (12-18-2017) – It had been 10 days since the Highlanders from Helix had competed, when they took care of Rancho Buena Vista with ease.
Helix went into the Sweetwater tournament 3-2, and were up against the Morse Tigers (0-5), who also played 10 days ago losing by 3 to Olympian.
Morse would remain winless yet again after losing this afternoon to the Scotties, 64-40.
The Highlander defense held Morse to just 9 points to end the first half, as Helix coach BRENNAN CASSADY mentioned
last week that the Scotties had to do along with playing as a team.
Mission accomplished.
The Scotties had clear control of the scoring, leading 28-9 at the half.
Key to the offensive strike was AMARI GREEN, scoring 30 total points, including 7 3-pointers.
JAYLIN HINSON would add 9 points of his own.
“ We rebounded well and didn’t give many second chance opportunities,” said Cassady. “Amari Grenn going 7-for-8 from behind the arch also helped us achieve our goal.”
The Scotties will face Jurupa Hills, from Fontana, which is currently 3-7.
This contest, part of the Sweetwater Tournament, will commence at 12:30 p.m. on December 19, 2017.
If the Highlanders play like they did this afternoon they should be 5-2 by the end of tomorrow’s contest.
WEST HILLS 82, CASTLE PARK 20 – CAM BARRY whittled his way and shot his way past and over the Trojans’ defense and scored 36 points for the Wolf Pack in a game played at Coronado High.
JAYDEN MORENO added 12 points for West Hills (3-4), while teammate CHRIS SCHROEDER had 10 points
CADE RALEY had a steal and a layup in the first quarter for West Hills en route to 10 points, as well.
The Wolf Pack takes on Coronado (4-1) today (Tue.) at 7:15 p.m.
