MONTE VISTA 75, SOUTHWEST (El Centro) 46 – The Monarchs set forth to victory with a strong third quarter, outscoring the Eagles, 24-7 to extend a 10-point halftime lead.
DEONDRE MCHAYLE led the way for Monte Vista with 24 points, including 11 in the third. He also buried four three-pointers in the contest.
“The starting five sealed it,” said Monte Vista coach MIKE TULLY. “The third quarter was the difference.
DEMARCUS MCKAN had 14 points, while TOMMY GALLEGOS and JORDAN BRAMER each added nine points.
The Monarchs improved to 7-2.
Monte Vista will face Chula Vista (1-7) on Thur. at 4:30 in an Olympian Tournament game.
EL CAPITAN 69, HIGH TECH SAN DIEGO 33 – The Vaqueros earned their third win of the season as they captured a victory for the second-straight night in the Destined To Be Stars tournament.
JAKE PFITZNER led El Cap with 22 points, while CHASE LOVATO added 18 points for the Vaqueros.
El Capitan led 29-12 at halftime.
El Cap faces Del Norte on Thursday at home at 7:30 in a Grossmont Winter Classic game.
MOUNT MIGUEL 86, HILLTOP 46 – The Matadors improved to 7-1 by routing the winless Lancers in a Grossmont Winter Classic game at Grossmont High.
Mount Miguel travels to Olympian next Thursday at 7:30 in a Grossmont Winter Classic game.
FOOTHILLS CHRISTIAN 91, LA JOLLA 51 – TAESHON CHERRY had 29 points and DERRICK CARTER-HOLLINGER added 23, including a four-point play, as the Knights won at the Grossmont Winter Classic.
FCHS (4-3) will next face Rancho Bernardo in a Destined To Be Stars tournament game at Grossmont High next Thursday at 6.
OTAY RANCH 71, WEST HILLS 55 – The Falcons won the Coronado Tournament game despite 28 points by the Wolf Pack’s CAM BARRY.
The Wolf Pack fell to 2-4 and will next face Castle Park on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
