ESCONDIDO – The Santana Sultans rushed their way to a 19-4 first-quarter lead to pummel host Calvin Christian, 67-39, Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference affair.
The Sultans improved to 5-1 and look to be a serious contender in the section’s Division 3 this season.
Santana will next meet Escondido Adventist in the Santana Shootout Tournament at 7 p.m., as the Sultans look for win No. 6.
CHRISTIAN 62, DEL NORTE 50 – JORDAN GAINES had 14 points and JACKSON LARSEN added 13 as the Patriots snapped a two-game losing skid to improve to 4-2.
The Patriots took charge early and held on to a double-digit lead throughout.
Larsen also snagged 12 boards and had three blocked shots.
The Patriots will play Victory Christian Academy on Friday at 3:30 p.m. on the road in a non-league contest.
ESCONDIDO 78, VALHALLA 49 – Despite 25 points from RAMZI SULTAN, the Norsemen fell on the road in a non-conference game to the Cougars.
VENCEL YOUSIF added 12 points for Valhalla.
Valhalla fell to 2-4.
The Norsemen will meet Oceanside tonight at 7:30 in a tournament contest.
