FOOTHILLS CHRISTIAN 36, AVALON 16
EastCountySports.com staff report
AVALON – The souvenir the Foothills Christian Knights came to get on Catalina Island Friday night can’t be found in a gift shop.
The defending section 8-man champs are officially rolling after a fourth-straight victory (including a forfeit), knocking off gracious and winless hosts, Avalon School, 36-16.
TONY MROZ scored the Knights first touchdown and ILYJAH BARTOLOME scored the conversion for an 8-0 lead
In the second quarter, Mroz scored again, and this time KEVIN HELFERS got credit for the two-point score, giving FCHS a 16-0 lead.
After the Lancers cut the lead in half, CARTER HALLAHAN had a touchdown reception to answer for the Knights. STEVEN LEONCINI rushed in for two more and it was 24-8 Foothills Christian (4-2).
Bartolome added a touchdown with just over two minutes left in the game for the final margin.
