Grossmont 8, Valhalla 1: Foothillers sixth inning leads to victory.
Grossmont struck first with a run in the top of the first inning on a walk by DESTINY BACON who came into score on a ALEXIS COLLINS rocket shot single down the left field line to make it 1-0. However the Norsemen would tie the game in the bottom of the second inning as SAM GREEN singled, RYLEE MCMILLAN singled and RACHEL SHELSTROM followed with an RBI single that scored Green to knot it at 1-1.
The Foothillers retook the lead in the top of the third inning when Bacon walked, MOANA PISIA singled and Bacon scored on a passed ball to make it 2-1. It wouldn’t be until the top of the sixth until the Foothillers broke through again with more runs to extend their lead. In the top of the sixth SAMARIA ROOPE led off with a bang as she belted a long ball over the center field fence for the solo blast to make it 3-1, KATIE APPENZELLER followed with a single to right field, Bacon singled up the middle and Pisia roped a shot to left that scored Appenzeller to make it 4-1, she stole second base and ALY ALLMAN smashed a two run double to left center field to make it 6-1.
More runs for the Hillers in the top of the seventh inning to round out their scoring which came by a single by TAYLOR BAEZ, Roope doubled to left which scored Baez, JORDAN BROWN into run for her and Bacon drove in Brown with a single to push the score to 8-1.
Roope got the complete game victory for the Hillers, giving up 1 run while striking out 4.
For Valhalla, KENNEDY LABSHERE went 2-3 and Shelstrom went 2-4 on the day.
