Vaqueros romp in record day in Vegas

El Capitan 14, Bell 1 – A big second inning for the Vaqueros leads to a victory in three innings.

El Capitan had first crack in the top of the first and at first it looked like they would be retired in order but AMANDA VASQUEZ (1-3, R, 2B) laced a double with two outs, she would come into score on a grounder by ALEXA WILLIAMS (1-3, 2 RBI, 2B) that was misplayed by the third baseman to make it 1-0.  Coming into run for Williams, HANNAH HARVEY (3 R), the next batter GRACE BURKETT (1-1, 3 R) walked, BAILEY OLAVESON (1-1, 2 R, 2 RBI) walks to load the bases, HANNAH DAVIS (2-3, R, 3 RBI) ropes a single to score Harvey to make it 2-0 and MARIA LOTTA (3-3, R, 3 RBI, 2B) hits a ball that got through to left for a single that scored Burkett to make it 3-0.

More of the same in the second inning for the Vaqueros but this time MADISYN WIEHER led off with a walk, ZANNDRA RAGOLE (1-2, R, RBI) is hit by a pitch, Vasquez walked to load the bases, Williams comes up and smashes a 2-run double that scored both Wieher and Ragole to push the lead to 5-0, Harvey comes into run for Williams, Burkett walked, Vasquez would score on a passed ball to make 6-0, Harvey moved to third, and Burkett moved to second, Olaveson walked to load the bases.

Lotta roped a double that scored both Harvey and Burkett to make it 8-0 and Olaveson advanced to third. Another run for the Vaqueros would score when ALLYSON VON YOKES (RBI) grounded out which scored Olaveson from third to push the score to 9-0. The Vaqueros rounded out the big inning when Ragole hit a liner to center scoring Lotta to make it 10-0.

The Vaqueros would put the finishing touches on their scoring in the top of the third thanks to a Olaveson RBI single and Davis 2-run scoring single to extend the lead to 13-0. The final run scored on a passed ball to make it 14-0.

Bell would avoid the shutout in the bottom of the third on a solo homerun.

Williams would retire the next two batters to end the game.

Williams tossed 3 innings, 1 run, 1 walk and fanned 4 for the victory

 

El Capitan 23, Village Christian 5 – Record setting day for hits as the Vaqueros pounded out 22 hits in their lopsided victory over the Crusaders.

The record day started in the top of the first for the Vaqueros as ZANNDRA RAGOLE (3-4, 3R, 2B) doubled with one out, AMANDA VASQUEZ (1-3, R, RBI) walked, MADISYN WIEHER (RUN) into run for Vasquez, ALEXA WILLIAMS (3-5, 3R, 6 RBI, 2B, 3B) followed with a ripped triple to right that scored both Ragole and Wieher to make it 2-0, GRACE BURKETT (3-4, 3R, 4 RBI, 2B, HR) followed with a smash double that scored Williams to extend the score 3-0, BAILEY OLAVESON (3-5, 3R, 2 RBI, 2B) doubled scoring Burkett and HANNAH HARVEY (1-2, RBI) singled which scored Olaveson to push the score to 5-0.

Multiple hits by the Crusaders in the bottom of the first allowed them push across two runs to cut into the lead by the Vaqueros 5-2.

However El Capitan added to their lead in the top of the third inning scoring four runs making the score 9-2. Leadoff hitter KAITLYN COLLIER (RUN) walked, a couple of batters later Vasquez singled advancing Collier to third, Williams hit into a fielders choice which allowed Collier to score and Vasquez would be out, Burkett walked, Olaveson singled which scored Williams and HANNAH DAVIS (2-5, R, 2 RBI, 2B) doubled scoring both Burkett and Olaveson.

The Crusaders cut into the Vaqueros lead scoring three runs thanks to multiple hits, an error and a homerun to make the score 9-5.

The Vaqueros answered with a couple more runs thanks to a Williams 2-run single that scored both OLIVIA MARTINEZ and Ragole to make it 11-5.

MARIA LOTTAS’ (2-2, 2R, 2 RBI, HR) 2-run homer in the top of the fourth that scored ELENA LADDON (1-2, 2R, RBI) pushed the lead to 14-5. Laddon had previously singled to score ALLYSON VON YOKES (2-2, 2R, 2 RBI, 2B) who doubled.

In the top of the fifth Burkett launched a 2-run dinger that scored Vasquez who reached on an error to extend the lead 16-5, Olaveson singled, Davis followed with a single, Von Yokes roped a double that scored both Olaveson and Davis to make it 18-5, Laddon reached on an error that scored Von Yokes, Lotta singled advancing Laddon to second, Ragole singles to load the bases, Vasquez hit a fly ball to left that was caught but scored Laddon to make it 20-5, Williams doubled in Lotta and Ragole advanced to third, she came into score on a passed ball and Burkett singles in Williams to round out the scoring at 23-5.

Williams who came into relieve Vasquez was able to retire the Crusaders in order 1-2-3 to end the game.

The Vaqueros with their 22 hits on the day put themselves in the CIF record book tied for 8th most all-rime.

Garnering the victory for the Vaqueros was Vasquez who tossed 1 2/3 innings, giving up 5 runs on 6 hits. Williams went 3 1/3 in relief giving up 1 hit while walking 1 and striking out 2.

With the victory the Vaqueros finished out great as they went 4-2 and the bats came alive as they scored 53 runs in the last 3 games which were all victories.
