Tuesday’s non-East County action from the 67th Lions Tournament:

 

CLASSIC DIVISION

Elk Grove 2, La Costa Canyon 0 – Juinor Brian Freitas spun a three-hitter, striking out six with no walks for the win, while junior Jake Jordan homered for the Thundering Herd. Kemer Brown had an RBI single that scored Jordan.

Eastlake 4, El Camino Real 0 – No. 2-ranked Eastlake improved to 14-2 after suffering an opening-game upset loss to Torrey Pines on Monday.

Cathedral Catholic 9, Green Valley 5 – Wyatt Hoffman had four hits and Nick Nastrini had three hits and scored two runs as the Dons rallied from a 4-1 deficit. Junior Cade Brown had two hits, two RBI and scored three runs for Cathedral. CCHS scored five runs in the fifth.

Madison 2, Westlake 1 – Junior David Lantz won in a complete-game effort, striking out five. Junior Devin Padua had three hits, including a triple, while senior teammate Ryan Lovato drove in a pair of runs.

Torrey Pines 2, Newbury Park 1 – Senior Tucker Pike went the distance for the win and freshman Kevin Sim hit a solo home run.

PREMIER DIVISION

St. Augustine 3, La Jolla Country Day 2 – At Hickman Field, the Saints won in the bottom of the 10th on a Nico Anderson RBI single. Brooks White had a two-out single for Saints in the fifth to tie the game. LJCD No. 2 hitter Carson Green hit a solo homer in the top of the first inning.

Francis Parker 2, Montgomery 1 – The visiting Lancers broke the ice in the top of the 11th inning to take a 2-0 lead. Michael Campagna drove in a run and got the win for Parker.  Jose Cerda struck out 11 over eight innings for the Aztecs.

San Marcos 4, Scripps Ranch 2 – The visiting Knights got a pair of RBI from Kade Kretschmar in the first inning. Alec Holmes went four innings for the win.

Foothill 13, Silverado 5 – The Santa Ana-based Knights improved to 11-5 with the win at Rancho Bernardo High over the team from Las Vegas.

Carlsbad 3, Santa Monica 1 – Junior Jake Larimer pitched six innings for the win, striking out eight, while senior Jacob Kinney earned the save with a perfect seventh. Mark Scheble had a RBI single for Carlsbad.

Palisades 6, Liberty 3 – In a game played at La Costa Canyon High, the Dolphins used four pitchers in the win following Monday’s opening loss to Christian.

Poway 8, Desert Oasis 3 – Junior Nick Donnelly and senior Alex Andranovich each drove in two runs for the Titans and senior Alex Blaszyk went five no-hit innings for the win.

 

DIVISION 6A

Santa Fe Christian 1, Coronado 1 – The game was declared a tie after daylight had nearly expired after 15 innings. Senior Chet Moody pitched six shutout innings in relief for the Eagles.

La Jolla 16, Otay Ranch 12 – The visiting Vikings scored eight in the sixth inning to reclaim the lead after trailing 10-7. Senior Garrett Brown had four hits and four RBI for La Jolla. Junior Miguel Artelejo had three RBI for Otay Ranch, including a two-run single for the first runs of the game. Dane Hansen drove in two with a double down the left field line for the Vikes.

Patrick Henry 6, Bonita Vista 5 – The Patriots survived a four-run comeback in the seventh by the host Barons. Senior Tyler Engquist drove in three for Henry, while senior teammate Alex Willkomm drove in two. Junior Tyler Lowery for the win.

Point Loma 4, Rocklin 3 – The Pointers scored three in the first, but won in the bottom of the tenth. Sophomore Anthony Hall and junior Mitchel Sardo both drove in a run for Pt. Loma. Rocklin senior Cole Brown had three hits and two RBI.

Crespi 12, Mission Hills 5 – Crespi’s Kyle Freeman had two hits, three RBI and two runs scored, while junior Will Kemochan had two RBI and two runs scored for the Celts.

Westview 2, San Ysidro 0 – The Wolverines’ Kevin Lyons had a hit and an RBI to go along with his complete-game four-hitter, striking out seven.

 

DIVISION 5A

Ramona 10, Taft 3 – In a contest at El Capitan High, junior Garrett Lee had three hits and four RBI, while juniors Tristan Stacy and Bryce Roe both had three hits for Ramona.

Escondido 13, Ridgeview 0 – The Cougars improved to 14-2 with the home win.

Thousand Oaks 11, Del Norte 0 – At Rancho Buena Vista High, Alex Mueller hit a grand slam in the first inning. Blake Campbell got the win, allowing two hits over 4 2/3, striking out five.

Brawley 5, McClatchey 3 – In a game at West Hills High, the Wildcats led 5-0, then held on. Blake Zeleny struck out five to get the win.

South Torrance 5, Rancho Buena Vista 3 – Jacob McNally drove in a run for the Spartans, while teammate Dawson Hokuf had a pinch-hit RBI double. South will face Escondido tomorrow for a shot at the championship game.

Vista Grande 5, University City 0 – Sophomore Adam Belloc delivered six shutout innings for the win, while junior Ed Gutierrez doubled and scored twice for Vista Grande.

 

DIVISION 4A

Canyon Crest 4, Oxnard 0 – Freshman Cole Coleman pitched four innings to get the win. Junior MJ Metz and sophomore Kevin Michaels both had two hits and an RBI.

Sage Creek 4, Central Union 1 – The host Bobcats scored three in the first, as senior Drake Brenner doubled home a run and scored.

LA Polytech Sun Valley 2, Mission Bay 1 – The Bucs scored a run in the first on a Connor Bail sacrifice fly, which scored Parker St. Germaine, who walked. Danny Dimienga got the win for Poly.

Clairemont 1, Fallbrook 0 – The hosts scored in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double by Griffin Catarius, bringing home Austin Rice. Josh Pizzo had a complete-game two-hitter, striking out seven.

Mater Dei Catholic 3, San Diego 0 – The visiting Crusaders scored one in the first, then added single markers in the sixth and seventh.

St. Paul’s 6, Sweetwater 5 – The Swordsmen scored two in the seventh and one in the eighth for the win. Sweetwater’s Memo Espinoza had three hits and two RBI.

Nevada Union 10 Calexico 0 – At Canyon Crest, Nevada Union scored eight runs in the first two innings, as Nick Noll had three-hit day, including two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Leadoff hitter James Nolen added two hits and scored two runs. First basemen Tanner Wirick tallied two RBI and hit a home run. Junior center fielder Owen Day chipped in with a triple and two RBI. In a complete game, Ty Trathan allowed just two hits, while striking out three.

 

DIVISION 3A

Madera South 1, Mt. Carmel 0 – The Stallions’ winner was Caleb Bertonicini, who went 5 innings, while the save went to Manny Nunez.

Serra 14, South Gate 1 – The Conquistadors put up eight in the first, as Luke Reece finished with three RBI on the day, getting two hits and scoring twice. Scott Sipchen and Nick Liong each drove in two. Reece got the win with four innings, allowing one one.

Roosevelt 8, Valley Center 6 – At Escondido, the Rough Riders’ Gabriel Jimenez drove in two runs, while senior teammate Everardo Romero had four hits. Junior Salvador Zepeda pitched two innings for the win.

San Dieguito 1, Mar Vista 0 – Ryan Martinez drove in the game-winner, while Matt Shearin earned the victory.

Del Oro 8, Mission Vista 0 – The visitors got three hits, including a homer, and two RBI from Casey Oldwin. Owen Cuffe was the winning pitcher.

Chula Vista 5, Menlo Academy 4 – Alex Celicio was the winning pitcher as Menlo fell to 0-2 in the tournament. Chula Vista improved to 14-4.

Olympian 4, Hilltop 3 – The Eagles won in the last at-bat. Freshman Andres Contreras had three hits, a run and an RBI, while teammate Brandon Ridgels, a senior, had two hits, a run and a the game-winning RBI for the Eagles with a hit down the left-field line. Evan Moreno drove in two in a clutch situation for Hilltop, as well.

Bishop’s 3, San Pasqual 0 – In a game played at Mt. Carmel High, three Knights combined on a three-hitter. Senior Alex Negelescuhad two hits, including a double, and scored a run.

 

DIVISION 2A

High Tech San Diego 10, Palo Verde Valley 0 – At Valhalla, High Tech junior Josh Young pitched a three-hitter, striking out four and walking none. Seniors Noah McBride and Steven Carroll both had three RBI.

Classical 2, Imperial 0 – At Orange Glen, CA scored twice in the fourth seniors Chase Martinez and Micah Anselmo had RBI. Martinez started and pitched five innings, while Jordan Peterson delivered the final two frames.

South Lake Tahoe 9, Hoover 4 – The visitors improved to 8-6 and 1-1 at the Lions after falling to Foothills Christian in the opener on Monday.

EC Southwest 19, Calvin Christian 0 – In a game at Mount Miguel High, Southwest scored seven runs in the first inning, as starting pitcher Albert Montano drove in a pair of runs earl, as did junior Jr Romero.

Maranatha Christian 3, Horizon 1 – Junior Aaron Smith drove in a pair with a couple of hits and also pitched four innings to earn the win. Sophomore Mason Sparks pitched three innings of scoreless relief.

 

DIVISION 1A

Capital Christian 12, Orange Glen 0 – The visitors from Sacramento led 3-0 before scoring seven in the fourth behind four RBI from Christian LeClaire in a run-rule shortened game. Xavier Carter got the win with four innings, striking out eight. Isa

Holtville 9, Mountain Empire 4 – Holtville knocked off pals Mountain Empire as junior Octavio Loya and sophomore Angel Herrera both had two hits. Loma scored three runs. Dylan Carter got the win with five innings from the start.

Calipatria 13, Morse 4 – Visiting Calipatria got two hits and two RBI from junior Adrian Garcia, while senior Gilberto Desilagua had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored for the Hornets.

Castle Park 16, Sunrise Mountain 1 – Junior Eleazar Cruz drove in three runs with three hits, including two doubles, and scored three runs. He also pitched four innings, allowing just an unearned run.

Tri-City Christian 17, Lincoln 6 – Sophomore Chris Doyle had two hits, including a triple, and four RBI for Tri-City Christian. Freshman Jake Signorelli had two hits and two RBI for Tri-City Christian.

Linfield Christian 26, SD Southwest 1 – Lions sophomore Cooper Whitworth drove in eight and senior Luke Stratton brought home six.

Rancho Christian 12, Alpha Charter 10 – At Steele Canyon, RC got four hits and five RBI from junior Carter Treadway, while senior teammate Luke Nobiensky had three hits, two RBI and four runs scored.

High Tech Chula Vista 8, Kearny 5 – The visiting Bruins got four RBI from sophomore Jamar Mack and freshman teammate Kai Saterstrom had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Senior Brandon Fragoso had three RBI as the Komets’ comeback fell short.

 

DIVISION 1A PLUS

Escondido Charter 21, Gompers Prep  7 – The visiting White Tigers got three RBI from seniors Matthew Coe, Jaelyn Williams and Brooks Martelo.

American Christian 26, Crawford 0 – The visitors from Anderson enjoyed a field day in a game played at Monte Vista, as the Eagles improved to 18-3.

Arleta 12, Army-Navy 1 – The visiting Mustangs won a game played at Oceanside High and have captured both the Lions’ games by a combined margin of 37-1.
