EL CAJON (3-3-17) — For the second day in a row the Christian Patriots offense came alive. This time they were able to push across six runs to hand La Jolla Country Day a loss in Monte Vista Tournament action on Thursday (Mar. 3), 6-2.
The offense did the job for the Patriots in the bottom of the first as they put up four runs to erase a two-run deficit on a couple of hits. Scoring for Christian was AUDREY SHEBLOSKI (run), ASHLEY CARTER, SHANNON MCMAHON (2-3, 2B, R, RBI), and ELLE LINDBLAD (1-4, RBI, R).
Carter also took the circle for the Patriots and spun another gem only giving up the 2 runs on four hits while fanning four on the day. The defense backed her up as they made play after play.
She also helped her cause at the plate going 2-4 a double and scoring twice and even stealing a base. Also knocking in a couple of runs for Christian was LAUREN SHERBURNE who went 2-2 on the day.
OCEANSIDE 5, SERRA 1 – It wasn’t the Serra Conquistadors’ day as they dropped a Monte Vista tournament contest to the Pirates of Oceanside on Thursday (Mar. 3).
Early on the Pirates clung onto a 1-0 lead through five innings and that is when the Pirates offense pushed across four runs to extend the lead to 5-0. Serra was able to score a run in the bottom of the inning but wasn’t able to garner any more offense.
