Former Griffin, Cougar Perry homers against Hawks

COSTA MESA (2-26-17) — It was a rough outing for San Diego Christian College as they battled Vanguard in a doubleheader on Saturday (Feb. 25) in Costa Mesa.
In the first game, the Lions roared past the Hawks 10-4.
In the second inning, BOBBY SHUMAN doubled to right for an RBI.
Former Grossmont College/Steele Canyon slugger Tanner Perry blasted a home run in the 3rd inning for the Lions.
It was Perry’s second homer of the season. He is currently hitting .268 with 11 walks so far this season in hist first season at Vanguard.
Josh Weeks then singled to right to allow Shane Elias-Calles to score.
In the 6th inning, Trai Patrick slugged a 2-run homer for Vanguard.
For the Hawks in the 7th inning, BROCK MOSIER grounded out to 2nd base to score TYLER WILSON.
VAHN BOZOIAN hit a 2-run homer in the 8th inning.
In the nightcap, the Lions relied on their pitching as they blanked the Hawks 2-0.
Perry had a double in the Lions’ second game win.
