EL CAJON (1-31-17) — The Helix Highlanders pulled a runaway contest at Valhalla (16-7, 0-3), finishing with a 73-42 Grossmont Hills League victory.
This was a makeup game from Jan. 20 due to rainy conditions, which caused a power outage at the El Cajon campus.
DYLAN LEE popped in 18 points, half of them coming on 3-pointers as the Highlanders (19-5, 4-0) claimed a 13-8 first quarter lead.
MILES NORRIS pitched in 13 points, while CARSON BAKER and JAYLEN ARNOLD chipped in with 11 apiece.
Five-foot-9 ISAIAH WOODEN wowed the crowd when he delivered a slam dunk. He also claimed a 3-pointer, as did Baker.
Norris hammered down an ally-oop dunk almost midway through the third period on a pass from Lee to put Helix up 48-28.
Helix led 18-9 after one quarter, then 38-19 at halftime. Then the Highlanders really put it away in the third, outscoring the hosts 25-10.
Helix: Dylan Lee 18, Miles Norris 13, Carson Baker 11, Jaylen Arnold 11, Isaiah Wooden 7, Amari Green 6, Marcus Holmes 2, Jaylen Hinson 2, Maurice Holmes 2, Jumar Wynn 1.
Valhalla: No report.
