2016-17 EAST COUNTY PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL

LAKESIDE (1-8-17) — Undefeated Imperial traveled from the desert to the home of the Vaqueros on Saturday (Jan. 7) for a non-league joust and came away with a 55-19 drubbing of the host team.
The Lady Tigers improved to 14-0 on the season.
“They were up by 17 points in the first quarter,” said Vaqueros assistant coach ROCKY COOK. “We just did not have a good day. We are still missing McKENZI KYGAR and GRACE BURKETT (injuries). We start 3 freshmen and one senior.”
El Capitan’s two usual sharp-shooters didn’t manage to break into double digits although they performed respectably on the boards. STEPHANIE ADAMS grabbed 9 rebounds and MARIE COOK hauled down 8.

JSERRA CATHOLIC 53, HELIX 34 – The Helix Highlanders were overmatched against JSerra in a non-league contest Saturday (Jan. 7) in La Mesa, although everyone on the team contributed to the score and statistics.
DANIELLE SIMMONS led the Highlanders with 12 points, 7 rebounds, an assist and 3 blocks.
TOKWAJE KWAI and BROOKE OWENS each grabbed 6 rebounds for Helix.
