EL CAJON (12-8-16) — Junior LEANNA WATSON erupted for 34 points and 7 steals in Wednesday’s (Dec. 7) non-league game as the El Cajon Valley Braves (2-0) smothered San Diego Southwest 54-21.
Watkins nailed 13 buckets and one trey to go along with 5 for 11 free throw shooting.
SUMAYA HAMEED scored 14 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and made 7 steals for the Braves.
El Cajon Valley: Leanna Watson 34 (2 reb, 2 ast, 7 stl), Sumaya Hameed 14 (14 reb, 7 stl), Lillian Akintende 6 (5 reb), Vean Gorges (5 reb, 3 stl), Erica Bazile (4 reb).
EL CAPITAN 37, SAN DIEGUITO ACADEMY 35 – The Vaqueros used a balanced attack to submarine San Dieguito Academy for their fourth win in as many decisions in Wednesday’s (Dec. 7) non-league action.
GRACE BURKETT scored a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds for El Capitan.
MARIE COOK tossed in 10 points, including a pair of 3s. She also had 5 blocks and 9 steals.
STEPHANIE ADAMS hauled down a game-high 15 rebounds.
DANIELLE PIMENTEL registered 6 steals. The Vaqueros had 28 steals as a team.

GROSSMONT 53, CLAIREMONT 34 – TYANA WARSAW scored a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds and ATHENA SOTELO punched in 14 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals as the Foothillers clobbered Clairemont in Wednesday’s (Dec. 7) Mustang Tournament.
CANDACE HENDERSON added 11 points for Grossmont.
Nine Foothillers contributed to the scoring attack.

MOUNT MIGUEL 76, HILLTOP 26 – The Matadors bolted to a 24-0 lead in the first quarter of Wednesday’s (Dec. 7) encounter with Hilltop, then shifted into cruise control headed for a showdown against top-ranked Mission Hills.
Those two teams will collide on Saturday (Dec. 10) in the championship game of the Matador Classic
SATERA BATES scored 26 points – all in the first half – as the Matadors buzzed Hilltop 76-26. In Bates’ conquest of Hilltop she also nailed 5 three-pointers.
DESTINI ANDERSON spun in additional 18 points, including hitting 6 of 6 free throws for the Matadors.
LAILA SMITH didn’t score but she dished 10 assists in the lopsided win. She also had 3 steals.
CAMARA DOUGLES had 11 rebounds to go along with her 17 points and 3 blocks.
