EL CAJON (12-7-16) — Six-foot-8 senior power man RYAN KELLY turned in a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds as Granite Hills mauled Mt. Carmel 52-40 in Tuesday’s (Dec. 6) Eagle Invitational.
Kelly was deadly from the free throw line where he clicked on 10 of 12 shots from the charity stripe.
DARIEN COSSIO added to the supporting cast with 12 points including a trio of 3-pointers.
JORDEN ROGERS followed suit as he knocked down 12 points and 3 triples.
MOSES SMITH pitched in with 9 points and 6 rebounds, with all of his caroms coming in the final period.
“When we play with intensity like we did tonight we’re a pretty good ballclub,” said Eagles coach RANDY ANDERSON.
Granite Hills (2-1) will host Morse (3-0) Wednesday (Dec. 7) at 7 p.m.

HELIX 64, RANCHO BUENA VISTA 24 – The conclusion of the Helix football season proved to be a springboard for the Highlanders’ basketball season.
JAYLEN ARNOLD dropped his shoulder pads and came up with a game high 17 points, while quarterback CARSON BAKER chipped in 10 more in Tuesday’s (Dec. 6) Hilltop Tournament as a harbinger of good things to come.
The Highlanders used a 21-3 run in the second quarter to put the game away for Helix.
Eight Highlanders joined the scoring parade.

GROSSMONT 65, SD-SOUTHWEST 34 – DOMONIQUE GUEVARA, fresh off the football field, whistled in 19 points and yanked down 12 rebounds while recording 5 steals to direct the Foothillers to a lopsided victory over San Diego Southwest on Tuesday (Dec. 6) in the Game on Challenge.
Grossmont turned the game into a rout with a 27-6 bullying of the Raiders in the third quarter.
Next up for the Foothillers is a duel at Serra Thursday (Dec. 8) at 7 p.m.

VALHALLA 47, CASTLE PARK 26 – The Norsemen held the Trojans to just one point in the first quarter as junior RAMZI SULTAN scored the first six points for the Norsemen Wednesday (Dec. 6) in the Baron Matador Classic.
MALIQUE SHAW had seven blocked shots as the Norsemen held the Trojans to only nine points total in the first half.
Up 24-9 to start the half, the Norsemen went on a quick scoring run sparked by senior guard JONAH HOWARD.
