SAN DIEGO – Friday’s eight-man contest between visiting Foothills Christian and Ocean View Christian would provide a challenge to even the most experienced of scorekeepers.
ELI HALE started the game off with kick return for 70 yards for Foothills Christian, but Ocean View rattled off 26-straight points to end the first half.
The Knights were able to match the scores on many occasions, but just not all that the Patriots had to offer Friday afternoon.
MATT ARAGON had a 36-yard gain as the Knights tried to close the gap before halftime. His last-minute jaunt to the goal was stopped by Ocean View near the left pylon.
DANIEL HOFFMAN had a 35-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter to close the Patriots’ lead to 26-14.
Hoffman threw a 43-yard TD pass to CONNOR GEORGE with 5:50 left in 3rd to bring Foothills back to within a couple of touchdowns.
Senior quarterback Alejandro Perez scored a touchdown for Ocean View Christian that extended the lead to 40-22.
However, the Knights would quickly counter with a 72-yard scoring pass from Hoffman to Aragon.
Not to be outdone, the Patriots’ Dylan Loewenthal would answer right back with a 70-yard touchdown to make it 48-28.
However, the wild back-and-forth scoring would continue when Hoffman picked up six on a 64-yard score.
Hoffman had 153 yards rushing on 14 attempts, including three touchdowns, while NATHAN HAMILTON had 12 carries for 52 yards. Hoffman also was 4-for-11 passing for 168 yards and two scores. George finished with three catches for 93 yards.
Ocean View would find another way to put points on the board when they took back the extra point the other way for two points.
Diego Mascerano scored in the fourth quarter for Ocean View to make it 62-36, while the Knights’ George would add his second score of the game late in the fourth.
Ocean View tacked on another touchdown for good measure just moments later.
