Coit, Wheeler take east baseball posts

2016 EAST COUNTY PREP SPORTS – COACHING CHANGES

Coit

EL CAJON (10-7-16) — FRANK COIT has accepted the baseball coaching job at Mount Miguel.

 

Coit and his staff are refurbishing the Matadors’ baseball field. He has spent time working with SD Prospects and as a pitching coach in the Granite Hills baseball program. He replaces L.B. Havird who is now an assistant football coach at Grossmont High School.

 

Valhalla High has brought aboard a new baseball coach, Grossmont alum RYAN WHEELER. A pitcher during his high school days, Wheeler toiled for the highly successful JEFF MEREDITH. He replaces ROBERT WILSON. The Baseball team will be led by Coach Ryan Wheeler. He played collegiate ball at Fresno St. He has been coaching for the Stix Baseball Club and recently moved up to the high school level in the travel ball arena.

Picard

 

Basketball:

 

SCOTT PICARD has come all the way across country to take the boys basketball coaching job at El Capitan. Formerly of Boston, Picard has coached at several locations, including the University of Massachsetts-Dartmouth.

 

FRANK QUINONES has stepped down at the El Capitan girls basketball coach. He has previously coached the Westview girls basketball team as well as El Capitan’s boys basketball team

 

Softball:

 

The Valhalla softball team will be led by RICK MCMILLAN. McMillan has been an assistant coach in the Grossmont Union district for a number of years. He has also been a head coach of a district water polo team. He has spent the last few years working as an umpire for the SD County Softball Officials Association.
