CHRISTIAN 11, OUR LADY OF PEACE 1 (5 INN.) – A pair of homeruns by both Samantha Baca and Keels Carrizosa along with a combined 9 RBI helped power the Christian Patriots to the convincing shortened road victory over the OLP Pilots Tuesday afternoon.
Trailing 1-0 in the top of the second inning the Patriots would capture the lead thanks to Baca who led off with a solo shot to center field which was followed by a blast to left field by Carrizosa. Later in the inning Tyler Krystek would hit into a fielder’s choice that allowed Alyssa McCurty to come in and score to give them a 3-1 lead.
Christian in the top of the third inning would extend their lead thanks to a three-run jack by Carrizosa to left field.
Baca who already homered in the contest would strike again as she blasted a grand slam over the left field fence in the top of the fourth inning to make it 10-1.
Ava Barrios who started for the Patriots picked up the win in which she allowed one run on three hits over four innings while walking four and striking out two.
Christian in the contest tallied 12 hits which included a double by Lucy Sherbirne who also scored a run, Kaitlyn Moody who also doubled had a pair of hits along with two runs scored, and Jordyn Krystek who had a hit and drove in a run were among the many contributors.
Christian with the victory has now won two in a row and moves to 17-4-1 overall and 2-0 in City Western League while OLP has dropped two in a row and falls to 6-11 overall and 1-2 in league play.
PATRICK HENRY 1, POINT LOMA 0 – Strong pitching on both sides led to the game being decided late when in the bottom of the sixth inning an error by the Pointers led to what would be the game winning run for Patrick Henry on Tuesday afternoon.
Katie Krewson in the bottom of the sixth inning with two outs came to the plate for Patrick Henry and hit a ball to the shortstop who misplayed the ball which allowed Emily Shelton to come around and score the go-ahead run.
Zoe Rutherford the starting pitcher for the Patriots garnered the win as she allowed zero runs on four hits over seven innings in which she fanned seven Pointers.
The Patriots tallied three hits in the game courtesy of Izzy Ervin, Brianna DeGuzman, and Rutherford.
Patrick Henry with the win moves to 8-10 overall and 1-2 in league while Point Loma falls to 16-5-1 overall and 0-2 in league.
