MIAMI – In August 2022, former Christian High standout Kyle Stowers registered th ebiggest hit of his professional career in Major Lague Baseball.
Playing for the Baltimore Orioles, Stowers was summoned to pinch-hit against the Chicago White Sox, smashing his first career home in the Majors — it was a walk-off variety for the victory.
On Thursday (Mar. 27) in the domestice opening day of the 2025 season, Stowerrs came through again.
Now playing for theMiami Marlins, Stowers repeated another walk-off hit in the ninth inning for a 5-4 triumph over Pittsburgh.
There were two big Marlins hits in the ninth.
Nick Fortes tsmacked a lead riple, sending the Pirates in panic mode.
Xavier Edwards was intentionally walked. After Edwards stole second,
Instead of also walking Stowers to gain a force out at any base, Pittsburgh elected to pitch to the left-handed hitter.
However, Stowers, 26, instead lined a drive to right left to score pinch runner Javier Sanoja.
Mini Bio
Selected in the second round of the 2019 MLB June Amateur draft out of Stanford and Team USA, Stowers was part of a class of a Baltimore Orioles farm system that was rated near the top in baseball. And with the ballclub rising to compete with the with the rest of the American League East standings, a trip to the platiffs seemed on the horizon.
However, with talent there are trades. Although batting .306 in Baltimore, the O’s sent Stweras to Miami in late July.
