Christian 1, San Marcos 0 – Junior hurler Ava Barrios on Tuesday showed why she is one of the best pitchers in the county in the early going as she recorded 21 outs in the victory over the San Marcos Knights.

Barrios struck out five as she went the full seven innings allowing four hits to get the victory and help maneuver Christian into talk as one of the favorites this season.

Despite outhitting the Knights 7-4 the Patriots would actually take advantage of an error by the Knights in the third inning to procure a 1-0 lead and what would be the only run scored in the contest.

Leading the offensive charge for Christian was Lucy Sherburne who went 3-for-3 with a double and also scored the only run, Kaitlyn Moody also had a pair of hits as she went 2-for-3 with a triple.

Christian moves to 3-0 and will next take on Poway on Thursday March 6th.

Valhalla 4, Brawley 3 –
Three runs scored by the Valhalla Norsemen in the top of the fourth inning as they held off a late three-run rally by the Brawley Wildcats to prevail on Tuesday afternoon.

If a team is going to win games its bottom of the lineup will have to step up and come through and that is exactly what the Norsemen bottom three hitters did as they combined for half of the teams eight hits in the contest.

Lily Moscoso would put Valhalla on the board first as she ripped an RBI double in the top of the second inning.

Starting for the Norsemen in the circle, Devyn Mack who would garner the win as she went all seven innings in which she allowed three runs on five hits while striking out four.

Lily Alvarado would lead the Norsemen offensively with her two runs driven in and 2-for-3 day at the plate as she was part of the bottom of the lineup that really helped spark the win.

With the victory Valhalla evens their record at 2-2.

Escondido Charter 11, Steele Canyon 1 (5 Inn.) –
Various opportunities taken advantage of by Escondido Charter propel them to the convincing win on Tuesday evening.

Offensively the Steele Canyon Cougars were held to three hits in the contest. The lone bright spot came in the bottom of the fourth inning with two outs when Makenzie Meyer singled to center to bring home Dannika Lakin.

Meyer, Lakin and Hailey Trujillo each had a hit in the game for the Cougars.

Steele Canyon falls to 1-3 with the setback.
