SAN DIEGO = The final statistics for the 2024 high school football season are now official, according to an article posted Monday (Jan. 13) on PartletOnSports.com.
Granite Hills running back Max Turner has captured the CIF San Diego Section scoring title after posting scored three touchdown in his season finale — the CIF South Regional setback to Huntington Beach-Edison, 34-28 — giving the senior 216 total points.
Turner finishes 28 points clear over Dominic Hawk of Calipatria in the Imperial Valley.

In addition, Turner became the 23rd player in CIFSDS history to accumulate more than 400 points (402).

SPRING VALLEY – According to the recently updated CIF-San Diego Section record book, Monte Vista running back Alwx Villanueva did became the first player to ever achieve more thann 3,000 yards in a single seqason.Vullanueva
Villanueva, a senior, finished with 3,227 yards on the ground.
The old mark was 2,974, set by Dillon Baxter of Mission Bay in 2009.
Another member of the Monarchs held the previous East County record in the category. Jahmon McClendon held the mark with 2,638 yards in 2018. CIFSDS RECORD BOOK JERE

SPRING VALLEY – Many predicted that Ramona head football coach Rob Gilster would surpass Monte Vista’s Ron Hamamoto for third place on the all-time list for victories in a coaching career. Instead, the Monarchs mentor couldjump into theNo. 2 spot by the end of August.
By winning 8-of-9 ballgames entering the state championship contest, Hamamoto now owns 246 career victories, drawinging to within two of John Carroll, who posted 248 wins at Oceanside.
The all-time mark is is still a decade away; Herb Meyer won 339 game at Oceanside and El Camino high schools.
Hamamooto posted his mark at three different schools. The East County record belongs to Jim Arnaiz of Helix with 212 triumphs.
