2024 EAST COUNTY GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL

PACIFIC BEACH – Santana High senior Jayden Fields was one of five players tabbed as players of the game at Saturday’s (Dec. 29) secondannual SDFNL Magazine All-Star Game, held at Mission Bay High.
Jayden, a running back for the contest, led the Red All-Stars in rushing yards, but the team was blanked by the victorious Blue All0-Stars in a defensive strugggle, 6-0. VIDEO
The lone score came 9 minutes into the contest, when Aadi Simmons of Hilltop caught a short pass to the ledt side, avoided a potential fplay-puller (tackler) and raced 23 yards for the score.
The Red Stars (wearing white uniforms, yet with red trim) had two chanes to score.
However, both drives was stopped by Iperial High defensive back Hannah Jphnson on interceptions. Johnson posted 18 pass thefts in the regular season, then alsmost added a third INT in the final minutes to seal the victory.
Johnson was tabbed the MVP by the broadcast team for SDFNL (San Diego Friday Night Lights) Magazine.

Fields paced the Red in total offense, mostly on running plays, but she also gained yardage on rugby-style laterals following catches by wide receivers.
Ng, an all-CIF selection this season, was the runaway leader in flag pulls(tackles) for the Red Stars. Ng, a linebacker, also led the entire CIF San Diego Section in tackles.
Simmons scored the lone touchdown, while Valenciano led the Blue in receptions and total yardage.
The Red Stars nearly pulled out a victory with five minutes remaining hen Suraya Holloway of Mira Mesa intercepted the ball and raced 63 yards fr the game-tying score.
However, officials ruled she was barely pushed out of bounds near midfield ona tackle by quarterback NAME of Poway.
