SANTEE – City of Santee officials celebrated the grand re-opening of Town Center Community Park East, which was refurbished with four artificial turf fields on Friday (Oct. 10).
The project, listed at “slighty more than $1 million” by the city, was also offset by a $100,000 grant from San Diego County facilitated and $31,000 in donations by local sports leagues.
Santee mayor John Minto and City Manager Marlene Best accompanied a group of Santee city officials and employees to mark the dedication ceremony.
The complex, featuring synthetic fields, is home to an assortment of local sports programs, including the Santee Ravens, which particicpates in Pop Warner Football. Soccer can also be accommodated,
The project was scheduled for completion last summer, but was delayed due to spring showers.
The fields are expected to command $40 per hour for youth groups and Santee residents’ $79/jour for nonj-residents.
Town Center Community Park West, home to four softball fields and is home to Foothills Christian High School softball, was updated prior to the pandemic.’ FLYER
