This Mesa loss was just as frustrating for the Olympians as was its Pony Bowl setback to Saddleback in ’81, falling 13-12 in the fog at Cerritos College’s Falcon Stadium in Norwalk.
Mesa held the ball inside the Gauchos (now Bobcats) 10-yard line with under a minute to play, but a fourth-down pass into the end zons was intercepted.
