NORWALK – The Grossmont College women’s basketball, which advanced to the state semifinals in 2023 and has been a state playoff participant for 12 of the past 13 seasons, , didn’t fare so well in this season’s 3C2A (the re-branded CCCAA; California Community College Athletic Association) playoffs.

Following a first-round bye, the Griffins (19-9 overall) fell in the second round to Cerritos in a 3-set sweep, held Saturday (Nov. 26) at the Falcons’ gymnadsium, The Aviary.

Cerritos (19-3) won, 25-21, 25-13, 25-17.

Grossmont’s Andrea Torres (12 kills) and Alyssa De Young (10 kills) led the attack, but too many spiking errors and solid Cerritos blocking allowed the Falcons to stay ahead throughout the match. BOXSCORE
