SACRAMENTO -Grossmont College sophomore Avery Banang, a back=court specialised out of Eastlake High, has been named to the All-DSouthern CValifornia first team by the CCWVCA (California Community College Women’s Volleyball COaches Association).
Banagga was onbe of just two liberos named to the squad, joined by Santa Barbara freshman Valeria Bellodas.
Banaga helped lead Grossmont College (19-8 overall) into a three-way fie for second place in the Pacific Coast Athlwtic Conference, a year following the Griffins’ PCAC championship.
Playoffs
Grossmont, currently ranked No. 17 yet seeded 11th, will open the CCCAA state playoffs Tuesday (Nov. 26) with a second-round match at No. 6 Cerritos College in Norwalk.
Defending CCCAA state champion San Diego Mesa is seeded second, waiting for the winner bteween Ventura and Mt, San Antonio.
Among other PCAC schools, MiraCosta is 17th, thuis forced to travel to No. 16 Bakersfield to jpin entry into the main draw.
Meanwhile, Palomar, which finished with its best mark in nearly a decade, gained a home match as the No. 8seed, hsting Ni. 9 Santa Monica. The victor advances to meet top-seeded Long Beach City (21-1). BRACKET
